GECGO - CGOAI’s Global Excellence in Chief Golf Officer Award
Annually, CGOAI recognizes Chief Golf Officer that is leading the effort to better their organizations while making their companies more successful through events they orchestrate. The award recognizes these Chief Golf Officers leadership skills and through their stories helps to advance Chief Golf Officer best practices globally.
Awards are given in two categories:
The GECGO Award for Best Practices recognizes the company’s Chief Golf Officer for their leadership in defining, implementing- and managing Chief Golf Officer outcomes that significantly contribute the company’s overall success. Their work is judged based on both process and results, irrespective of the nature of the functions or the regional or global scope of their efforts.
The GECGO Award for Innovation is given to the Chief Golf Officer that has recently implemented either a new Chief Golf Officer event or new Chief Golf Officer approach that is ground-breaking and worth special attention by other organizations. The goal is to recognize a practical innovation that has produced measurable results.
Who is Eligible?
Chief Golf Officer of any size are eligible for recognition. The only requirement is that it be that their accomplishment be documented and substantiated through the application process.
Award Process
Nominations through an online application posted on CGOAI’s website. Submissions are then reviewed by a panel of judges. Award winners are advised of the judges’ selection. Feedback is shared with all applicants to aid them in improving future applications.
Nominations open in April and close in June. Winners are advised by July and recognized at the subsequent CGOAI Chief Golf Officer World Summit in October.
Q&A
Why would I want to participate in the GECGO Award program?
The process of documenting your Chief Golf Officer efforts and accomplishments enhances awareness, both inside and outside your company. It is hoped that recognition will build organizational morale. Recognition of this type can also help attract and retain the best talent. It is hoped that recognition of this type will lead to greater credibility and influence within the organizations.
Is there a fee for applying?
No.
Is my submission confidential?
Yes. All submissions are kept confidential and only viewed by the judging panel, who sign nondisclosure agreements. Each winner will have a case study written about their accomplishments. Winners have the opportunity to review this case study to ensure than no confidential or company sensitive information is shared.
I am located in China, am Ieligible?
Yes. The only requirement is that you are directly responsible for the work being recognized.
Can providers nominate your organization?
No. Only organizations with member Chief Golf Officers can nominate a provider organization.
Can I be recognized without identifying the company I work for?
No. Although it is an individual reorganization — not the company overall — the individual and their company need to be identified.
How long is the application?
The application requests basic background information about the individual, the company, and the work. The remainder of the application is made up of approximately a half-dozen open-ended questions centered on the key elements important to long-term Chief Golf Officer success, capabilities, quality, risk & compliance, and governance.
Can I apply separately for the Best Practices and Innovation awards?
Yes. Individuals are asked to identify which award they are applying for, although the judges reserve the right to change the category selected. Although possible, it is unlikely that the same individual will be recognized for both awards in a single year, so it is recommended that individuals submit only one application per year.
Can I be recognized more than once?
Yes, individuals may be recognized more than once over a period of years, but not for the same practices or innovation.
